Maldon Quaker Meeting

Our Meeting House is in the centre of Maldon at the foot of the Butt Lane Car Park. We hold a Meeting for Worship every Sunday from 10.30 to 11.30 AM and then have tea and fellowship. Our Meeting for Worship, to which everyone is very welcome, is a silent waiting on the spirit, during which people may feel led to speak. We believe in equality and feel there is value in this ministry, whoever speaks, when the speaker has waited for the holy spirit's prompting before standing up. We have no paid minister and share all the Meeting tasks, holding a responsibility for three years before changing it for another.

We seek fellowship with one another but allow for differences in our
beliefs, emphasizing the need for tolerance and honesty in our
dealings. We try to work for peace in the world as individuals and as a Society, The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). We work too for social justice and for sustainability in our local communities, our nation and the world. We know churches work hard for all these things and appreciate being part of a community of faith.
